| Drop In Centres | |
|
Drop In Centres are held weekly for patients, relatives and the bereaved who may call in for help, support and information. Patients, carers, and the bereaved are welcome to drop in at the centres for a cup or tea or coffee and a chat with a trained nurse, with the bereavement services co-ordinator (who is a trained counsellor), or with other people going through a similar experience. Complementary therapies are available at both centres.

| Day Care Centres | |

Hospice at Home West Cumbria runs two day centres each week. The Day Centres offer a varied range of social activities, including craftwork, games, and entertainment from time to time. Morning coffee and afternoon tea are provided as well as lunch. Transport to and from the day centres can be arranged where necessary. Complementary therapies are also available. Living for Today is a new programme that has been developed by Hospice at Home. It is intended for adults who have been diagnosed with an incurable illness, or for their carers, and is designed to facilitate their wellbeing and to help them get the most out of the remainder of their lives. It is delivered over 6 weeks with one half-day session each week. The programme is run by Dr Maggie Bober, Hospice Doctor, and Chris Hodgson, Day Care Leader, and Doris Thompson, Health Care Assistant.

New patient and follow-up clinics are held in The Breast Screening Department at West Cumberland Hospital in Whitehaven. In some circumstances patients can also be seen at home or as inpatients in the West Cumberland Hospital or in any of the Community Hospitals. | Macmillan Nurses | |
| There are five Macmillan Nurses in West Cumbria. They are specialist nurses in palliative care, who offer support and advice to seriously/terminally ill patients, their families and professionals involved in their care. They also help and support newly diagnosed cancer patients. They co-ordinate the care provided by the Hospice nurses and often refer patients to the Hospice.
