We have just been awarded a substantial grant from Help the Hospices which will enable us to extend this programme and offer it to carers as well as patients.
08 Dec 2007 Margaret Dowling
Margaret Dowling, Chairman of Hospice at Home Trustees until September 2007, died on 30th November as a result of complications relating to her rheumatoid arthritis. Margaret was a great nurse and a great human being. In many ways she was like West Cumbria’s very own Cicely Saunders. She had immense vision, deep compassion and an extraordinary store of wisdom and common sense.
05 Nov 2007 New Name, New Logo
As regular visitors to this website will have noticed, West Cumbria Hospice at Home is now ‘Hospice at Home West Cumbria’ and has a new modern logo to go with the new name.

Following the resignation of the previous chairman, Mrs Margaret Dowling, Dr Terry Collins is now chairman of the Board of Trustees.

Recently we’ve been fortunate to have received two substantial bequests, one from the late Marion Hughes who lived in St Bees and the other from local sportswoman Janet Sutcliffe who very sadly died recently.

Hospice at Home West Cumbria has won a prestigious national award. We have been given one of the 2007 GlaxoSmithKline IMPACT Awards, which are run in association with the King’s Fund.
